Band Camp Info and Parent Volunteers Needed

Hello Parents of UAMB! 

We are so excited to get the band season started next week with Band Camp!  As promised, it will be different this year, and we need your help to make this happen!  Since it is a different year and things can change rapidly and/or last minute, Mr. Fessler will be sending updates on “Remind.”  If you’ve never used this before, go to remind.com (or download the app,) and enter your phone number or email to register.  When it asks for “class code”, enter: uambp2.  We are hoping this will help with up-to-the-minute communication with students and parents.

We are looking for parents to sign up to help with check in and sanitation during the week.  Safety is always first and if you are going to help, we need you to get a background check to assist with any band activities this year!  If you did the background check last school year (for example, if you drove for the Blitz,) you are good to go, but if you did not, you will need to stop by the high school office with your Driver’s License or ID to get your background check.  Once you have it, you are good to go for the season.   Please call to let the staff know you are on your way!

As a reminder, on Monday, the band Camp is for the leaders and 1st year marchers only.    Each day, we will be taking temperatures of the kids.  The start time is 9 am, so we are asking volunteers to be there by 8:45.

On Tuesday, we will need to distribute the instrument PPE and check in all UAMB members, so we are asking for more volunteers that day.  Camp starts at noon, so be there ready to go at 11:45.

Parents will not be permitted in the band room or school, so be prepared with sunscreen, water, maybe a chair to sit in (socially distanced, of course).  During breaks, the volunteers will be working to sanitize common areas!

Please make sure your student has plenty of water also as the boosters are not permitted to supply water at this time!  Students should also make sure to apply sunscreen as marching with a burn the next day is no fun!  Here is the CAMP SCHEDULE the kids will follow.

Lastly, as was indicated on the registration form, the $125 fee per student is due this week. Students can bring a check (made out to Upper Arlington Band Boosters) to band camp.  If you can put your student’s name on the memo line, that would be so helpful.
